Right after New Years', all the stores start advertising Vday. It’s a marketing month for Hallmark greeting cards, gifts, jewelry, flowers, chocolate, dinner, etc. In the US, 190 million Valentine's Day cards are sent. The first mass-produced Valentine of paper lace was in 1847 by Esther Howland. In 1868, the British chocolate company Cadbury created Fancy Boxes, a box of chocolates in the shape of a heart for Valentine's Day. In the 20th century, they started exchanging cards to gifts.
